Beni Ourain is a group of 17 Berber tribes that traditionally inhabits the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Marmoucha is one of the Berber Tribes of The Beni Ouarain. Their abstract simplicity made them attractive to famous modernist architects in the 1920’s and 1930’s, such as Le Corbusier and Alvar Aalto. They are considered to be the most prestigious rugs in Morocco, made from the very finest wool.
The number of vibrant weaving traditions for the rugs was just as many as the Moroccan tribes. While some used natural dyes and dyed with henna, other tribes used brown, bold red, tangerine, magenta, rose and mauve dyes were used.
